Re: who has/had a belly ring?

  • I took mine out the day I found out I was pregnant.

  • I had one... I took it out two years ago!  ...decided I didn't want to be the old lady with the belly ring.
  • I haven't had mine in for a long time, but I've seen the pregnancy ones. They are the same size as regular metal ones, but they are flexible.

  • I still have mine in and it's fine.  I had a plastic "space saver" in it since BFP but I lost the rubber stopper so I had to put my regular ring back in.  I plan on getting the pg belly ring or going back with the plastic one.
  • Mine is still in. I'm waiting until it is uncomfortable.

I took it out ASAP with DS and still got a stretch mark around the hole, so I'm not worried. I like it.

  • I have one and I hope to keep it!  I think they make a certain kind of ring for PG ladies... I'm going to give that a try.
  • I took mine out when I was about 24 weeks prego with my son.  I never was able to put it back in:( Its ok though I really dont miss it.  I dont like the scar tissue it left behind though...yuck.  Good Luck
  • Mine was ripped out years ago. I miss it.

I hear the maternity rings are very comfortable and from the photos Ive seen they don't look very huge or gaudy or anything.

I think to prevent the piercing from tearing I would put in either a plastic retainer or a flexible ring. especially if the piercing is something you want to keep  after the baby is born.

    something to consider.

  • I had mine in until i was like 8 months pregnant with my first daughter.  It was a normal one.  I took it out b/c everyone kept telling me too, not b/c it needed to come out.  I never got an outtie belly button with her so i am not sure if that plays into it or not...i never put it back in..and I dont miss it.

  • I took mine out right after we left my NT scan. The longer you keep it in the better chance you have of gross scars.
  • I took mine out two years before getting pregnant but always had a mark where the hole was and developed a stretch-mark looking scar where the hole was.  Does that make any sense at all??? Tongue Tied

Edit: I'm talking about my first pregnancy, not this one.

  • I took mine out around 13 weeks and I'm so happy I did. I looked into getting a maternity belly ring, but I probably still would have had to take it out. My belly button has been stretched like crazy so far and I've still got several more weeks to go. It would have been very, very uncomfortable.
  • I took mine out early (1st tri) at the advice of my doctor.  I did not replace it with a flexible pregnancy one, and I have to tell you, that my belly button is so stretched at this point (and is also part-in and part-out - yeah gross!) that I can't imagine having anything in it at this point.

  • Still have mine in. My sister bought me a pregnancy bar, but I haven't had to use it yet. I'd rather try to keep it in than have it close up and be left with an ugly scar.

  • I took mine out at 7 weeks. I was worried what would happen and my belly button hurt so I figured I can always repierce it when i am done having kids.

  • Mu husband is a tattoo artist/piercer..He made me take it out after like 10 weeks because he said even the pregnancy rings cause the hole to enlarge and then when you put the bar/ring back in you have a large hole and it looks nasty..if you take it out it will not close and it will also not stretch but if you have something in the hole as you grow the hole will grow..get it?? lol
  • I have a pregnancy navel ring in right now. I changed my stainless one out for this one around 19 weeks.

It's not huge and annoying; it's flexible, and I cut it down so it's not too long. I have a second one that I'll switch to if the current one gets to be too short.

  • I took it out YEARS ago-well before I was married/had a baby.
  • i took mine out right away i miss it alot, but i heard from a couple of people who left theirs in that it caused stretch marks there, dont know if it true but it scared me............
i will be so excited to get it back when my belly isnt stretching to limits that seem impossible lol

  • I got a pregnancy one, and it is working out nicely.  You can cut it so it is not so long!
