Babies on the Brain

Not so great 37w appt. Poo.

BP was pretty high (140/90).  She checked like 6 times with two different cuffs just to make sure.  Dammit.  No other pre-e symptoms yet, but doc is having me come back in on Tuesday to check BP again and give a urine sample to check for protein.  She says there are three scenarios -

1.  High BP was freak occurance and will be completely normal again.

2.  BP is still high, but no protein in urine...she will send me for further testing and will keep a very close eye on me.  Will likely not make it to 39 or 40w before being induced.

3.  BP is still high AND protein in urine.  Depending on how high BP is, I'll be induced right away or induced sometime during that week.

In the mean time, I just have to rest as much as possible and try not to stress (totally stressing right now).  Timing could NOT be worse, as our kitchen is being ripped out tomorrow and a new one put in over the next two weeks.  I was supposed to finish cleaning out cupboards and plastic-covering everything in sight today.  Guess DH will be on double-duty tonight and tomorrow morning!

Oh, and I'm all of a sudden measuring two weeks ahead, so OB is sending me for a growth u/s to find out how big my sasquatch baby is.  I know they are off a lot, but I'm still curious to see what they say about it!

Ok, now I need you guys to help me feel better and stop worrying.

  • Deep breaths. ?Can you go get a prenatal massage or something to help you relax?

Everything will work out and you will have a healthy sasquatch baby :-)?

  • Oh wow, well at least you're 37 weeks so if she comes early she should be ready.  Do what they tell you and get your rest and just think of that little one you'll be holding soon. Your DH will step up and take care of things I'm sure, so try not to worry.

  • dont worry until you need to. that will make it worse! go get some ice cream and a foot rub!

BTW-my friend in Sydney told me yesterday (via skype) that they sky looked blood red there last week. How freaky! did you see it? do you know why that happened?

  • Worrying will only make your BP worse, MEE.  But you know that, I'm sure. ;)

Take it easy, drink lots of fluids, avoid salty foods and keep your feet up.

FWIW, I had the same issues starting at 38 weeks and I made it to 39w 3 d before I was induced for PIH.

  • I blame the kitchen remodel and am crossing my fingers that it is a freak occurrence.  That is my clinical internet diagnosis.
  • It's going to be okay. May I suggest a pedi and some ice cream?

You couldn't miss it!  It literally looked like Mars when we woke up.  I posted a pic on here, actually.  Turned out to be a massive dust storm with red dust from the outback.  So weird.

  • Can you maybe get out of the house and to a bookstore or a mani/pedi to relax?  Being there while they do your kitchen is NOT going to be helpful!

    Deep breaths.

  • I'm loving the pedi and ice cream suggestions.  Perhaps I will do that while said kitchen is being ripped out.  Then I don't have to inhale large amounts of dust either.  Win win.
  • And after the kitchen demo happens, get some movies and RELAX at home.
  • I'm sorry MEE. Hang in there and try not to worry too much. I had a couple of appts toward the end with bp a little higher than normal but it ended up not being anything to worry about. GL :)
  • I'm sorry, MEE.  Try to relax.  Hopefully it was just a fluke!

  • rest & relax......hopefully it was just a one time thing.

  • Did you eat right before your appointment? Eating causes your bp to rise. This is what happened to me at my last appointment. They freaked and induced me...only to find that I didn't need to be induced and that I didn't have pre-e.

Just drink and keep your feet up.
