Yesterday we buried my grandfather, and the service(s) were amazing and wonderful. I knew HE was amazing, but my family really shined as well.
One the aunts brought balloons for the kids to release, and I happened to have markers in my camera bag. So we all wrote messages on them prior, and released them. It was beautiful.
The piks are on my blog (link below) and there's also an 8 minute video of Poppa's life. I don't expect anyone to sit thru that one, lol... but if you do, you get some vintage Davezwife shots, b/c many of the piks were pulled from my mom's album. I'm the one with brown hair, that usually looks like a mushroom head, or in piggies. het het.
Note: the yellow jacket Ava was wearing in the piks was mine, I thought it was the cutest thing in the world on her.
Also, she always blowed kisses to her poppa. When we were walking away yesterday at the end, she turned around and BLEW A KISS TO THE CASKET! Everyone lost their marbles. I didn't explain anything to her (why? she's 18 months?) and really didn't show him laying in there at the wake... she pieced that all together on her own. AND got that he was in there with the top closed. holy chit, I say.
So yeah, enough about Poppa. I just wanted to share.
Re: Balloon release piks

I love the story about blowing kisses to her poppa....such a sweet girl. That gave me chills. I would have lost it too...I swear, they are so much smarter than we give them credit for.
Ava looks adorable in your coat and I love the idea of a balloon release....might have to steal that for my grandma's funeral when it happens.
