We supplement w/ formula after most of the feedings. How much do you feed LO? Our LO is 3 weeks and I think we may be overfeeding him. He usually BF's for about 15 min. each breast and then eats anywhere from 2- 3.5 oz of formula- is this too much?
Truthfully it all depends on how much your LO is getting from you. You can go to a LC and have him weighed before and after a feeding to see how much he is getting from BF. If he isn't getting very much then that amount would be fine. Also is he spitting up a lot? Babies will spit up when they are overfed.
we were in the hospital at 5 weeks due to failure to thrive. My LO has severe anemia and gets to tired to eat and it killed my supply (now i know i pump all the time!) But at that time our specialist said offer each breast for no more than 15 minutes each and offer 3 oz supplements of formula or expressed milk.
