Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Oh, the meltdowns!

Something is bothering ds.  Yesterday when I picked him up from daycare he had a meltdown because we left before snack, then when we got home it was a meltdown because I put granola in his yogurt (which he usually loves) and then this morning it was a meltdown becasue DH gave him his breakfast (just handed him his plate) instead of me.  What gives?!

  • I'm right there with you

When I dropped Mikey off yesterday he had a meltdown because I took away his binky (he's never had a problem with that)

Then after I picked him up, I got sick and had to stop at MIL's, when we left he had another meltdown

When we got home he had a meltdown because he wanted to watch dh mow the lawn instead of going in to eat

and then he had a meltdown because he apparently didn't want to take a shower

uggh - I felt like he hated me yesterday

  • sound like a phase! an unhappy one at that :(

no worries. my little one went through a similar thing. he wouldn't let anyone pick him up or hold him but me or DH. he would throw a fit if anyone got near him.

THANK GOD he grew out of it.

  • lol...we are going through the same thing.  I guess that this is a new "skill" that he is practicing.
  • check those teeth! My DD did the same thing yesterday. I mean, all kids have a meltdown here and there, but if she has a whole day of them, something is up. She whined all day at the sitters and then when I picked her up I wouldn't give her my work badge and she just fell all to pieces...when we got home, I stuck my fingers in her mouth and that last little hole on the top has a tooth coming through. I can almost always guarantee it. If she has a whiney day and falls apart everytime she hears "no", it will be a tooth. Thank GOD only 3 more to go and then we get a short reprieve!!
  • My DS had the worst evening yesterday.  Is there a full moon?  It was awful, he hit me twice, bit my DH.  It really made me doubt wanting another child.  My confidence was shot.  Today is a new day, so we will see how the afternoon goes.
  • I say nothing is wrong with him.  It's gotta be totally normal because my son is having them (at least one every morning and at least two at night) and it sounds like most people with a one year old are having to deal with it.
