Winter Wardrobe

I'm trying to organize Caleb's winter clothes to ensure I have enough of everything. He has mostly long sleeve cotton shirts/onesies with pants/overalls, plus sweatshirt jacket and 2 heavier coats. He does not have any heavy fleece/sweaters. I can't decide if he'll need the heavier stuff.  I know it's hard to say how harsh the winter will be, but I would hate to be without things he will need. WDYT?

(And might I add...all of his winter clothes are CUTE! But they look like big boy outfits, where did my baby go???!! Crying)

Re: Winter Wardrobe

  • Last year I put J in lots of sweat suit type outfits (Carter's had some CUTE sweats with zip-up hoodies last year!) with a short-sleeve onesie underneath in case he got hot. He also wore a lot of jeans with long-sleeve t-shirts or button-down shirts. So I think what you have will work great for him.

I RARELY put a jacket on him unless we were going to be outside for a long time. They are just such a pain in the carseat, plus I think he would get HOT!

And I so feel you on those big boy outfits...today J looked like a little boy i& definitely not anything like a baby. I wanted to cry!!!

  • I have pretty much what you mentioned. She has 3 coats. One formal, one fleece and one like a rain coat material. I got pants and tops, mostly long sleeve cotton stuff. I have a few sweatsuit type outfits.I also got long sleeve dresses and tights or leggings. I got jeans as well. I really didn't get anything really really warm, because I figure we will be inside most of the time, and if we go out, I'll add a blanket.

Her sleep situation is bothering me though. I went ahead and ordered a breathable blanket and 2 Halo Fleece Sleepsacks, because she is getting cold at night. I found some nice terrycloth like sleepers at Kohls, I may run back and get more today! She sweats too much in a fleece sleeper.

I only have fleece sleepers, I hope they work out because we have 7!  I did see some thin cotton sleepers in 12 months at Carter's.

  • I can't speak from experience b/c I obviously haven't been able to use it yet.  But at a shower, we were given one of those coats that stays in the carseat.  You actually install it into the carseat.  It looks like you could take it out and let the baby stay in it if you wanted too.  But instead of always having to take it off and put back on, it looks like it's really convenient.  I've seen them around before.  It looks so comfy!

  • We have mostly long sleeved cotton shirts for Eli.  I never put him in a sweater or anything heavy.  So he pretty much wears pants and long sleeves all winter, and a jacket if it's cold.  He never wears a heavy coat either.  It's just too warm at daycare for anything heavy.  He also has a few winter hats and gloves.  It stays really warm in his room, so he just wears light long sleeve pajamas and pants, no fleece or anything too thick.  I usually get accused of under-dressing him, but we are all pretty hot natured so I know he's fine.
