H1N1 Shot

I am sure it has been talked about a lot on here, but I haven't been on the bump in awhile.  Are you ladies getting your little ones the H1N1 shot?  I have mixed feelings about this and can't seem to make up my mind.  Also do you have any good websites that give some more info about H1N1?

Thanks so much ladies!

Re: H1N1 Shot

  • I will.  And I'll get one for myself and I hope it's available before I give birth.  And I'm hoping my DH will be allowed to get one.

The H1N1 flu shot is no different than the seasonal flu shot.  It's just selected for this strain of flu rather than the 3 or 4 other seasonal flus they picked this year.   Every year, the seasonal flu shot is "new" and has a new combination of strains it protects against.  Every year it goes through testing, just like the H1N1 shot went through.

I think the whole swine flu thing has been way overblown in the media, but I also hear that the swine flu seems to hit little kids and PG women harder than others, so I want us protected.

the CDC website will have good information.  ALso, I would just talk to your ped and ask all of your questions there.   ANd here's info from the AAP:  https://www.aap.org/advocacy/releases/swineflu.htm

  • I'll be getting it as well as my dd. Not sure if my hubby will or not but he'll get the normal flu shot.

  • I'll be getting it, probably at the OB next month.  If my family doc recommends it, my daughter probably will too.  My hubby doesn't get flu shots because of egg allergies.
