Recommend your SUV

Right now I have the Lexus RX (a five passenger), but DH and I are considering selling it and getting something bigger. What do you have and do you love it? Not only is 7 passenger important, but I like a lot of trunk space. Thanks!

Re: Recommend your SUV

  • i have a tahoe - but i wish i had (and my next car will be) a suburban. with 3 kids in this car soon, i won't have any trunk space.

eta: but i LOVE my car other than that. its so easy to drive, comfy, roomy... everything i need.

  • To get 7 passanger and lots of trunk space you might have issues....might have better luck with a crossover, they tend to be a little longer.  That said I LOVE my Tahoe.  But with the 3rd row in I could not fit the travel system stroller and if I did there was room for nothing else.  But I do LOVE the Tahoe!!!!!!!!

but a crossover does not have a 3rd row - at that point you might as well get a car LOL

GMC Acadia and Chevy Traverse both have the 3rd row...those are not considered SUV's

  • I have a Nissan Armada and I love it.
It has 3 rows of seating, and the seats fold down so easily for more space.

ok...........I actually like the looks of the Acadia but I never thought it looks like a mini.  But you are probably right in your earlier post that she'd be better off with a Suburban or Yukon XL even

I'm so offended!!!  The Acadia so does NOT look like a minivan  :)

I love it.  BUT, with the 3rd row up and in use, there won't be much trunk space. That's the issue.  I love the captains chairs for the 2nd row seating...makes it VERY easy to get to the 3rd row without having to remove carseats.  I can't remember from looking around but I am almost positive it was one of the only ones that had the captain chairs option.

Honestly, from what I hear, once you hit 3 a minivan really is your best bet.  It sickens me, but it's what I hear LOL (We also plan on 3 kids)

When we went to look into a bigger Vehicle the first place we went was my dad's work.  He is a Tech for GMC.  He said the Arcadias are not good vehicles and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.  Tahoes and Suburbans are a good choice.

I have a chevy Trailblazer SS but it doesn't have a 3rd row.  I don't plan on having more than 2 kids...the back has a LOT of space.

And on the minivan topic...I had to take my Blazer in for service and they gave me a loaner car.....it was a minivan...I nearly cried when I drove off in it...

My MIL has a Toyota Highlander it has 3rd row but it also doesn't have a ton of room in the back with the seats up.

  • We have the Rx too!  I'm curious to see the responses.

I always said that I would never, ever drive a mini van...although my BF got one and she said that she wished she would have gotten one years ago!

  • The Acura MDX has a 3rd row, I believe.. otherwise I'd go with a larger size Lexus SUV.

I LOVE my Acura MDX... third row, great trunk space even with third row up and isn't some huge SUV.  LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!  I had a RX and went to this for the 3rd row.

  • I have a Toyota Sequoia. We love it. I also really like the LandCruiser.
  • We've got a Durango with the 3rd row. It's got some "trunk space" but not much. With the 3rd row down there's quite a bit of space back there.
  • My SIL has the Acadia, its a gorgeous vehicle.  I don't think it looks like a minivan either, FWIW.  As long as the car suits your purposes, go for it.
