Are heaters safe to use in the bedroom at night?  We plan to have DS sleep in our room for the first few months, then transfer him to his nursery, but I really don't want to look at the heating bill if we kept the heat on all night.  Are heaters safe to use in the bedrooms?

    We have a portable oil heater (a radiator).  It is quite, safe and warm.  I love it.  Our very old house has wall heaters, which i can't sleep with (noisy).  I think that if you choose the right type (i wouldn't use one with exposed coils), and take proper precautions (keep away from furniture, bedding, curtains, etc.) and keep on a solid, flat surface, they are probably safe.

    I believe my pedi told me the baby's room shouldn't be anything higher than 71 degrees.  The best is also to have circulating air like a fan since high heated room also is a risk for sids.  Probably best to have a temperature control heater until baby is over a year old.

    I was too scared to do it.  I was worried he'd throw a blanket out and it would land on the heater or something. 

    It's tough b/c I'm tihnking that I need something in Ben's room now - it gets colder in his room than the rest of the house.   But now that he's in a big boy bed, I'm even more scared of doing it.  So I'll be watchingthis for other ideas.  :)

    I am planning on talking to the pedi about this next month but I saw that they make humidifiers that spray warm mist.  I am wondering if something like that might kick out enough heat to keep the room comfortable.  We double swaddle Liam (to keep him from breaking free) so we can't have the room be too warm.

    most things I've seen do not recommend the warm mist b/c of burn issues and it turns into a bacteria breeding ground.
