Washington Babies

When did you first fly with DC

and what did you take? My family lives in Southern California and I want to travel down there soon so that my nephews and niece can meet their cousin. There are some pretty good airfare deals out there, so I was thinking of taking advantage, but i'm nervous about flying alone. TIA

Re: When did you first fly with DC

  • 3 months, to San Jose. It was awesome. He slept the whole flight, both down and back!

  • We flew to LA when M was 6 months.  Totally take advantage of the airfare, it's cheap flying into LA now (don't know where you are going).  He will sleep for the trip, except for maybe eating.  Do a diaper change right before getting on the plane, and feed if it works out schedule wise.

  • We'll be flying to Washington DC in December, when our baby is about 2 months. It's a LONG flight, so I'm anxious to read the responses.
  • We flew to SFO at 5 weeks. I would do it again easily. They are much easier to handle then when they start to crawl and walk.
    Mama to Z - 5.5 years, G - 3.5 years, & M - 1.5 years.
  • 11 weeks with twins to San Diego

    9 months to Iowa

and we'll be going to Iowa again when the twinkies are 16 months (turkey day!  with all 10 cousins!!)   I think this one will suck the most.  I;m buying a dvd player and maybe a 3rd seat.

  • I think that when they are 5 months and younger is the easiest it will probably ever be to fly with your child!  I flew with Holden when he was 4 months old and it was soo easy!  Im not looking forward to flying with him the next time we do it though...   He doesnt sit still anymore.

  • I think Ben was about 5 months and we flew to Kansas with a layover in Dallas.  I went by myself with him and it really wasn't very hard except that he had blow out up the back poops every time we took off and the seat belt sign was still on!!

If you go now while the baby's still little, it's easy.  The baby doesn't care where he is.  :)

ooh, really? I would be flying into the LA area.

  • 3 months was the first flight and the easiest.  We've flow with her every month or two and it's gotten progressively more interesting each time.  The only thing I would worry about with your LO is the time of year and being exposed to so many germs, not the age.  DD did get sick on the trip at 3 months and DH had to make a midnight run to the local drugstore because we forgot to bring a nasal aspirator.
  • We are flying next Friday for a long weekend to Houston, TX...DS will be about 10 weeks.  4.5 hour flight...I'll let you know how it goes.

  • We flew to SFO when Cooper was 10wks old & he slept the whole time both there and back. Next week however we are flying home to Australia for a vist for 3 weeks., We have a 3pm flight out of Seatac then a 4 1/2 hr stopover in LA before leaving at  around 11pm for a 15 hr non stop flight to Melbourne (with a lap infant!). So ask me next week how it goes flying with an infant & it may be a different story! LOL!

We aren't taking our stroller, just car seat & baby bjorn. The less stuff the better. We were also thinking about getting one of those carts for our car seat. Does anyone have one of those & think it is worth the money?
