So I have this crazy dog (whom I adore) that needs to be walked at least two miles/day every day or he'll eat through the sheetrock (seriously). Every day I drive to our favorite nature trail and hike through the woods, regardless of the temperature.
Lately, I've been fielding a lot of questions/comments from family & friends about my dog walking plans once baby arrives. My response is "she's coming with me and the dog" but people keep telling me I can't/shouldn't take the baby out every day in the elements.
For the record, I wouldn't go out with her if it's snowing/sleeting or freezing temps. I also bought a moby wrap to put her in figuring body heat and a coat around us would work well. And I have a "snow suit" thing I can also use. DH and my mom both agree with my logic but now with all the comments, I'm second guessing things.
So, am I completely crazy to think I can take my kid out in the elements on a regular basis or can this actually work? I just can't see myself sitting at home while on maternity leave without going on hikes b/c I have a baby. I would seriously go bananas!
Any/all advice is greatly appreciated.
Edit: I live in NJ so there really aren't air quality issues until the summer.

I'm not sure where you live but around here there are days where the air quality is particularly bad and when finding the weather report they say it's not good to take out young babies because of this.
That would probably be my main concern more than the elements because I'm sure you can keep the baby warm enough for a short walk.
If you plan on not carrying the baby, I saw this product which may help keep the baby from the cold. I bought it in the Lite version (since im in CA). It has a 5 star rating from other people who have purchased it but I haven't tried this version yet. Its 39.99 on BRU but i saw (and bought mine) at Marshalls for 24.99!!
