I am so creatively illiterate, you will probably think this is a silly question. I finally have a beautiful big tree in my front yard and I really want to hang ghosts in it. Anyone done this before? Did you make them? What materials did you use? TIA!!

The method that came to mind for me is to get white garbage bags and cut them into squares. Use a styrafoam ball (or you might be able to use crumpled up newspaper) for the head and wrap it with the cut up garbage bag. You can use a rubberband or string of some sort to tie them off. Draw a face with a sharpie marker (or just leave them faceless) and use either a needle and fishing wire to hang them or wrap wire around the rubber band and hang them that way.

The trash bag idea will hold up well to the weather. If you want them to have a cloth look, you can try plain white cotton, heavy gauze, or tulle to cover the styrofoam. There is no wrong way to do it.
