TTC After a Loss

Calling ladies whose DH's work outta town....(help)

I haven't been on here in awhile, I have been spending all my time with DH!!

Today as you know we have our 6w check up to get the green light to TTC...

DH is looking at different possibilities for work... We are awaiting a call for him to be shipped out to Louisiana for work. We don't know what day he will get the call but its within the next few days. He will be gone for over 2 months, not sure how long though... So TTC will be put on hold till further notice...

Ladies I need your help!! How do you cope with DH being gone so much, for so long?? All I have is school and things here at the house to keep me occupied, but it doesn't seen like it will be enough.

How or what do you do to keep yourself busy??

  • DH has been out of town for only 2 weeks since our loss. Those two weeks were hard though- I won't lie.

I would suggest that you get a schedule set to see some girlfriends. I had lunch every Wed w/ bff and dinner every Fri w/ another friend. I also invited our neighbors over for a game night and a movie night. Just keep yourself busy and rely on close friends and family.

GL and I am sorry you are having to go through this..

  • Dh doesn't work out of town anymore, but he has in the past. It was always hard. I always ended up getting sick to my stomach the night before he'd go. I hated it. I don't think it ever gets any easier. It was before I had dd, so to occupy myself, I scrapbooked a lot. Watched a lot of movies. Caught up w/old friends, and at the time I worked full-time and went to college.

You've also got the gals here on ttcal!

  • My DH works an opposite shift - so we only see each other late Friday nights and weekends.  Not quite the same as you.  We call each other a lot and I'm usually busy cleaning the house so I don't waste time doing that on the weekends when we can be together.  I also bump a lot and now I have a new puppy that occupies my time.

  • My DH travels a ton for work.  I always prepare for him being gone by setting up dinner/evenings with friends, making a list of things I want to accomplish around the house/errands/haircut/etc., changing the Netflix queue so movies I want to watch but he doesn't are coming, and picking out dinners for myself that I love but he doesn't or is allergic to.  By doing all of  this, I actually secretly enjoy the first couple days he's gone.  After that I miss him though, so we talk to each other almost every day on the phone or Skype.
