Those that have a veggie garden

How were your crops this year?

I grew 6 tomato plants, 3 jalapeno plants, 2 strawberry plants, and 4 red bell pepper plants, and barely got anything.

I usually get a HUGE crop (more than we can eat), but this year I gathered less than half of what we have had the past 2 years. The veggies either didn't fully develop, or came out off color and stayed that way.

This also happened with my mom's garden.

    I don't know what it was like out there in OH, but here it was cold for longer than normal, rained all spring, and then didn't rain all summer.  Not good for growing plants!

    We got two jalopenos, five tomatoes, and four strawberries.  That's it!

    We've got a ton of tomatoes on the vine right now, but they just don't seem to be ripening.  I don't know if they will before it gets cold for good.

    My tomatoes were horrible & so were my cucumbers. My peppers, eggplant, beans, and zuch's did great though.

    Have you had any blight issues?? I know that around here because of the cold weather, that blight has been a huge problem with the tomatoes.

    Our weather pattern was very similar to yours.?

    We also have a ton of tomatoes on the vine, but they are not ripening either. I don't think they are going to pull through. (sigh) No homemade salsa or tomato sauce this year... ?

    We had a great growing season this year - EVERYONE has tons of produce left.  My parents have canned & frozen tomatoes, squash, corn, green beans, peas, and zucchini that will take them, us, and both of my brothers & their families all the way to spring. 

    Remember wbrookelyn?  Her garden was outstanding this year, too.  We got lucky!

    I heard it was a bad year for tomatoes. However, our garden yielded WAY more than we knew what do with. I finally just stopped watering them and let them die b/c I was so sick of tomatoes, zucchini, and squash!

    No. I didn't notice any fungus on anything. The tomatoes just are ripening or turn yellow (about to turn red), but then stay that way.?

    Mine did do horrible never never did this bad.. They did have blight my tomatoes all rotted on the bottoms .. I was disguised.. Now my zuchini's did wonderful outta my ears loved it.. Eggplant i'am still getting, green peppers never got one blossom and banana peppers a ton? Weird i was disgusted this year bad summer for a garden.. Hopefully next year will be better

    Mine did horrible.  The tomatoes were okay, but the squash, cucumber, pumpkin, strawberries, and peppers all got a a fungus/caterpillars.  We got NOTHING from them.

    Everything did great except for our tomatoes, which all blighted.  Everyone I know who around here who didn't grow their tomatoes in a greenhouse had some sort of blight issue.

    In KY!  We've had drought issues for the past few years, so the rain and mild weather was a welcome change.  :)

    Don't some heirlooms stay yellow?? Just a thought. I had a friend that thought the same thing and then remembered she had a different species that stayed yellow.

    I got more lettuce than we could eat.  Same with herbs.  I gave lots away to my neighbour and currently have big bouquets of them drying all over :)

    My tomatoes are doing pretty good.  I started with 4 plants, 1 died in a big storm we had early in the summer.  We have had a really hot September so I think that is why they look so good. 

    I got 7 bell peppers and 5 cukes.  My zucchini isn't great.  About 5-6 the size of a toilet paper roll on one plant and 4-5 the size of my finger on the other. 

    I did carrots in a pot this year for the first time and I am thrilled with the results.  Thrilled.
