  • How sad. I read the whole thing through tear filled eyes. I couldn't imagine not being here for my little man.
  • That is so sad.  It's such a shock, since it's so rare in developed nations (0.009% of live births), it is hard to think about how common it is in other places -- as high as 0.9% in places in Africa.  Including these risks and reproductive rates, etc, the risk of a mother's birth-related death is as high as 1 in 22.  It's so hard to think about her death and the effect on her family and community -- i can't even process the risk of women in Sub-Saharan Africa.  (The World Health Organization is a good resource if you want to learn more.)
