Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Traveling with 3 1/2 yr old and 10 month old, any advice?

We are flying down to Disney World next month. Flight is about 2 hours. Planning on having ds on my lap on the plane. Just wondering if any of you that have traveled with small children have any advice or general tips. I'm starting my list of "things" we'll need to bring now b/c I'm sure it's going to be long! TIA.

  • Bring things to help the kiddos pop their ears (pacifier, bottle, sippy, or boob for the baby and sippy, chewy candy, etc for your older dc).  Make sure to have plenty of snacks.  New toys are also a great distraction!  Have a great time.  We took our kids to Orlando in August and had a blast!

  • Right there with you...we are going in two weeks with a 3 1/2 year old and a 9th month old.

    Airplane tips:

*Have toys they have never played with.  Keeps their attention longer.  We flew a month ago and B slept most of the way so hopefully your 10th month old will also.

*Have pacis or a bottle ready during landing for the LO.  Helps with the pressure on their ears.  If you let you 3 1/2 chew gum let her/him chew gum.

*Have bottles ready to go as much as possible.

*Pee before you get on the airplane and before you land (we learned this the hard way when my little brother wet his pants waiting on the airplane to taxi to the runway)

*We put both in strollers and checked them at the airplane.  Huge Help!

  • Don't worry about a tantrum or meltdown on board.  People will understand if it does happen and the flight is short.

The pp's have great tips.  Have a wonderful trip!

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
