Why is it that people would rather ask complete strangers questions than call their OB? Or still ask the question when they already called their ob/nurse?
I don't get it. Can someone enlighten me?

Mrsh don't scare me like that! I thought this was going to be a "why me?" post and I thought something was wrong!!!
I totally agree with you BTW, although I am sure I have posted a few questions because I was too embarassed to call the nurse (like, "can I eat this?" in the 1st tri).

My other favorite is when people ask complete strangers a question and then tell them how to answer. I would think the best part of asking strangers is to get unbiased opinions!
I can't stand it. If its something serious, WHY are you on the internet? And not on the way to the doctors? Seriously, the first thing you think of is "hmmm, lemme ask the internet and see what they know?"
Now, if its something lame like "why do my farts smell like smoke?" I don't mind.
Cause duh my doctor only has a medical degree you ladies have GOOGLE!!!!
LOL!!
For me I ask to get other mother's experiences. Yes, our OB's have degrees and have been doing this for many years. However; the comfort of someone else who is going through the exact same thing or similar is great.
Now I would not go off of someone advice vs my OB, but the comfort is nice.
This reminds me of the House episode last night. I will sometimes ask general questions to see what people's experiences have been, but I would never ask for medical advice on a message board. It is kind of frustrating when you see posts that do that.
Oh, I totally want to know if other peoples farts smell like smoke, too. I'll totally ask you girls if it's something goofy like that or something that i know is not something to worry about.
But, seriously for important stuff - you're going to trut internet strangers vs calling your dr?

I thought that the bump was a place for pregnant women. Some women may find it very comforting to know that someone is going through what they are going through.

True true, like egg meeting sperm, and irish twins, oh and the newest feeling movement AND sore boobs but NOT stopping BC. yah you know the stuff we all go through ...

oh g-d no! i mean like if you have been diagnosed with something and are currenly being treated for it, asking ladies here "hey have you been through this? any tips you can offer?"
not "omg i think i may have pre-e please tell me if you have it and what i should do." that is just stupid.

maybe because they want to hear stories of other women who went through, or are going through the same thing for comfort or for some helpful advice?
HEAVEN FORBID!
Because I know I like to get a myriad of conflicting answers from an unqualified group of strangers.
Duh.

Was that an attempt at snark?

It is, but you have to weed through the idiots.
