Trying to Get Pregnant

Canadian Ladies, I have a ?

Who has been to the West Edmonton Mall?

My SIL wants to plan a trip there to check it out because she heard that it was very cool.  I personally have only made it to Windsor Canada and not any farther.  So I'm wondering is Edmonton more French or English because my French is rusty and I'm unsure how I'd survive this trip.

What's your thoughts ladies?

  • English.  They only speak French in parts of Quebec.  You'll be fine.  West Edmonton Mall is alot like the Mall of America.  The rest of Edmonton is pretty neat too.

That's what we heard that it is like The Mall of America, that's why we want to go but then my DH said, you better make sure you know French and I was like what?????  So then I became unsure.

  • oi - if you've only made it to Windsor then you've still so much to experience of Canada! Poor girl!

you're so cute! French is only really dominant in Quebec and some of the maritime provinces.

have a great time - it's such a fun place!

No worries, that just made me laugh. As pp said, french is mostly only spoken in Quebec and other pockets here and there. Most Canadians don't know much past "Bonjour".

You do realize how crazy far away Edmonton is from MI, right?  Just checking.  You know you'll need to fly right?  If you're wanting a quick road trip, there are tons of great malls in Toronto.  GL

Honestly, in my opinion West Ed is just a big mall.  They have duplicate stores, and an amusement park.  Edmonton is meh also.  If it were me, I'd plan a trip to Calgary, Banff, Jasper, and Edmonton!  I love Calgary!

Yup. MOA is much better IMO. And if you do come all the way to Western Canada, Calgary/Banff/Jasper is a must see, more so than Edmonton (sorry Edmontonians).

Banff is one of the top 20 tourist destinations in the world.

    Jasper for sure!

IMO - I would rather go to Vaughn Mills just outside of Toronto tham WEM

I agree.  Just have found that SO many people don't realize how huge Canada is.  Some people don't know it would take you more then 12 hours just to get across Ontario.

  • I lived in Edmonton for 5 years and the mall is a pretty good tourist attraction, I guess. It takes a while to get around in, but it does have a waterpark, minigolf course, movie theatre, amusement partk, submarine adventure thingy, and dolphin exhibit, hotel, ice rink, and lots and lots of stores. Edmonton itself is fine, but just another city I think.

I also live a couple of hours away from Banff and go there often. It is beautiful and you will love it. I wouldn't miss it. Jasper is a lot like Banff and beautiful too.

I won't get into the Calgary is better than Edmonton argument  LOL, but they are both worth seeing. Calgary does tend to be a bit warmer though, even though they are only 3 hours apart! :)
