How do you keep LO warm at night?

Now that it is getting colder I am trying to figure out how to keep it warm enough for DS. He wears regular footed jammies and I have the heat on but it still seems a little chilly in there. How do you dress your LO so they are warm enough at night?

Re: How do you keep LO warm at night?

  • DS is swaddled at night so right now he wears a onesie underneath (long sleeved if a/c is on, short sleeve if it isn't).  We don't open his window and the door to his room is closed so it doesn't get too chilly in there (and he tends to be a little heater anyway).

  • I am a HUGE fan of the Halo sleepsacks. In the fall and winter my daughter woore the footed jammies with a fleece sleepsack over her. I was never worried about her getting cold or being smothered with blankets. You can also buy sleepsacks at Target.

  • I'm gonna try one of thos sllep sack things but havent gotten one yet...

  • sleepsacks are the way to go. i have 3. i put baby in a onsie or more clothes underneath depending on how cold it is.

the sack is like a warm fleece blanket that LO can't get tangled in.

they also have sleeveless ones for warmer nights.

  • Temps are now in the 50s here this week. I've been using the Halo Sleep Sack ever since we brought DS home. It's great! In warmer weather I have put him in a long-sleeved top or onesie with nothing for the legs, but now he's wearing a footsie.

  • We regulate the temperature in the house so that she can sleep in just the pajamas with feet.

  • DS still wears a short sleeve onesie and a cotton SwaddleMe for now.  He is still warm in it.  Soon, we'll be switching over to long sleeve onesies then footed PJ's with the cotton SwaddleMe's.  In the winter we'll do footed PJ's and a fleece SwaddleMe or fleece Sleep Sack.
  • I agree with the other PPs regarding the Halo Sleepsacks. I have 2 cotton and 1 of the velour (sp?) ones for DD. Usually I put her in a short sleeve Gerber T-shirt (either short or long sleeves depending on how cold it is) with the sleepsack over it. She likes it and it does seem to keep her warm enough.
  • I swaddle her in a receiving blanket nice and tight, so that her arms can't get free (she wakes sooner if her arms get out).  I place a warmer blanket (fleece) under the one I swaddle her in, and then once she's swaddled I roll the blanket over and under her body, so she's all rolled up like a burrito!  She can't get the warmer blanket over her face, because she's already laying on it twice.  Keeps her nice and warm.

I want to try the sleepsac, but I know she sleeps a lot longer if her arms are tucked in, so I haven't used our sleepsac yet.
