Stimming Too Fast?

Is it bad to have the super-stim reaction I posted about today after only 7 nights of stims (E2 was 5800, multiple follies - about 5 that were 16, one 17, a WHOLE bunch more than that)?  Does it mean the follies haven't had enough time to mature or does the E2 and size indicate maturity?

I see that most people stim for longer than 7 days...would this have been a different situation if I had been on a lower dose?

Thanks so much for your guidance through all this ladies.  I would be so lost without it.

Re: Stimming Too Fast?

  • I remember the first time I used injections it was for 7 days. I don't remember the follicle size (it was my BFP that turned C/P) but it was 75 IU of Bravelle. The 2nd & 3rd time I used bravelle we played with the dosing using 1/2 vials & up to 1 1/2 vials, good follicles but still no BFP. I would say that you have a lot of good follicles. Are you triggering soon? They do go 1-2 mm everyday for any over 12 mm but be careful of cysts for the following month if no BFP. Are you TI or IUI this month? I had 4 good follicles & RE was worried about HOM but I got BFN so having more is just a better aim at things. GL!

  • No, it doesn't necessarily mean you stimmed too fast, but they may have started you a little lower. Those sizes are fine, the 16 and 17s. As ashly said, they are going to continue to grow after the trigger. Also, with that E2 that high, they are going to grow even more.  You can't determine size by E2 alone. When you have so many follicles, that adds to E2 regardless if they are mature or not.  You have a TON of stuff going on and all that feeds into the E2.  Therefore, you can't say "I have ______ E2 therefore I have ______mature follies".  Also, ultrasounds are not exact either, especially when there are that many follies. The sizes are the closest estimate and so is the number.
