2nd Trimester

anyone else (weird pee/bladder question)

So, after 1st tri ended, my bladder went back to normal (except at night), but I can "hold it" or not get the urge as often when I'm awake.

About a week ago, I've noticed I will have this STRONG urge to pee, but when I go, it barely trickles out. I've googled bladder/kidney infections and I don't have any of those symptoms. (ps: my pee is clear, all I ever drink is water).

Is this normal pregnancy stuff, or should I call a doc?

Re: anyone else (weird pee/bladder question)

  • I had this for a while - was peeing just about every 5 minutes.  Thought it was the baby on my bladder but then I was diagnosed with a kidney/bladder infection.  The only physical symptoms I had besides the frequent urination was a pressure in my side and a backache that came and went + tiredness. Also, my pee was clear and all I drink is water.  Based on my experience, I'd call your doctor.  Better safe than sorry :)  Hope it gets better!

  • Hmmm...

The urge to pee but barely trickling out is definitely a sign of a UTI...Many people have them with no signs/symptoms at all and is one of the many joys of pregnancy. I would call your doc, if it is one you dont want it to get worse

  • Happens to me.  Sometimes I have to squeeze it out in squirts, lol.  Sometimes it even burns a little.  My doctor has tested me, and no uti.  I just threw it in the big bin of "Weird Pregnancy Stuff That Makes You Feel Like Your Body's Been Taken Over By An Alien."

  • I mean, they do a urinalysis every visit... so wouldn't it show up?

  • I have to pee every hour or so, and even though I feel like i really have to go, I only go a tiny bit.  I have had many UTI's and such so I know it's not that...just the baby I figure.  I notice it's much worse when I stand up or am in a position where he could easily be on top of my bladder.

You said it started about a week ago, so have you had a visit to the doc in the past week?  If so, they'd catch an infection, but UTI's can come on VERY quickly (I've had them go from nonexistent symptoms to horrible in a matter of hours).

  • I had this with my first around 16 weeks... it was terrible.  Don't have it this time.
  • I had this around 18 weeks and thought it was a UTI but it didn't feel like a UTI. But then it stopped and when I asked my OB he said its probably because of where the baby was positioned. She must have moved because I don't have this feeling anymore....

Yup, I've been to the doc since this started...
