I'm sorry Lauri! I'm not a SAHM but I am home with Max a couple days a week. Nap time definitely helps my sanity, and getting out, even if we only go to get groceries or to Target. I can't imagine with two little ones, I would be stressed too! I'm sorry you had a rough weekend. If you ever want to take a Starbucks break, let me know!
I too wonder how SAHM's do it. Maybe you could meet up with my SIL on Mondays or Tues so Audrey and Robbie could play. We are going to get a family membership the Imagine and she is going to take him at least 1x per week.
Or even just coming over to our place or yours. I know it is weird to invite but since she is going to have Robbie at home now he needs some kid interaction and play time too. And Audrey and Robbie play well together.
I am free in the evening if you want to try a get together with the kids.
We want to do a corn maze and we thinking about you and the family doing a quick dinner at our place then heading over to a Snohomish. Would you Steve and kiddos be interested when the time gets closer?

Im sorry Lauri, I battle with this often especially when Im watching an extra baby (or sometimes 2) during the week. Im need of "me" time a lot more often now. It's hard to keep the house clean, keep the kids happy, do meals on time, change diapers, do naptime, edit pictures or run any errands and still have time for yourself. I've had to tell myself it's ok if the kids watch a few shows during the day and that it wont damage them for life if they happen to see an episode of "Spongebob" it's impossible to do it all without some sort of a break! (Hence, the Bump ) Hang in there and we're always here for you if you need to chat!

I usually go to the gym for an hour every morning to give myself a mental break. I also meet up with friends for a late afternoon playdate or we head to the park.
Oh, I feel you! I try to make play dates often and do new activities. And of course there are the days where I don't even get out of my pyjamas. If you ever want a play date, I would love to meet you

#1 - Gym, I take advantage of the 2 hours a day I get, 6 days a week. I usually go in the morning, when Jo really needs to get out of the house.
#2 - Booze. I drink a little wine every night after, or before she goes to bed. Luckily, she is in bed and asleep by 8pm on most nights.
#3 - Activities. We do stuff through Parks and Rec and then with MOMS Club. It really helps to get Jo out of the house, or playing with other kids her age in our house.

We get out of the house every day. We usually have some activity from 10-12 every day. Then home for lunch, a show, and nap. Then after nap is my hard time. I try to think of something to do, but I'm no good at thinking up crafts and I know Ben would like better activities if I were good at them. We don't usually do stuf fout of the house after his nap b/c his nap end time seems really variable. Sometimes we'll go to the library or the grocery store after his nap. Sometimes he'll help me with laundry or making dinner. Sometimes we just run around in the yard or play with trains.
I am so sorry you are having a bad day. We have our schedule so most days (3 out of 5) we have something planned. I like one day with nothing going on, for cleaning/laundry. I do let Mason watch a show a couple times during the day (while i make lunch, etc). We would love to gtg with you, they had so much fun at the park on Friday we should take advantage of your maternity leave. Let me know!

Honestly, the best thing I ever did was take up photography again. I'm super, super busy and sometimes feel guilty about it, but it gives me something else to do.
We also try to get out and do things with other kiddos at least 3x per week. I'm thinking about signing her up for Little Gym or something as well. Hmmm..that's a good idea for her b-day gift!
It is sooo hard and I am lamenting the rain that is headed our way as of tomorrow
Our oldest now goes to preschool, but with the twins I have to plan even my grocery stores around who has carts for 2 kids (Costco and Whole Foods are the best.)
Plans, plans, plans! I subscribe to Ruby Slipper Guide and Red Tricycle for ideas plus I have an ongoing list of who has things going on like storytimes, open play, etc... As a backup there is always Tot Spot Cafe or Bel Square before they open (my secret fave when it's quiet.) There were some fun toddler parks that we'll be losing soon due to the weather and I am considering My Gym or Kindermusik but it's so dang expensive with two. Ugh
I signed up for an unlimited plan at Gymboree so I can almost go there everyday to get out of the house. My dd really enjoys it so it's great. Usually it tires her out so much she'll take a long nap afterwards.
Other days I feel like I have to take it one hour at a time and wait in anticipation when my dh comes home to give me a hand. It's hard work especially when the LO is cranky all day or if I'm especially tired.

What happened this weekend?
I think we've all had these days! I can't imagine how hard it is with 2! I have such a hard time motivating to get out with just one!
Do they do okay in the car? You could just go for a drive, or try to find a park where Audrey will play while you and Ryan watch on a bench...
My coping mechanisms in order of importance:

Then it's dinner and Daddy's home.
