Babies: 9 - 12 Months

What does your 10 month old eat?

Lily is going to be 10 months old this week and I am trying to get an idea of how much she should be eating/drinking each day...  what is did/does your 10month old eat each day?? How many bottles, etc.

Re: What does your 10 month old eat?

  • What doesn't she eat?!  Kate pretty much eats whatever I make the rest of the family for dinner, unless it's something that she could choke on.  Her schedule on a typical day goes like this:  nurse around 5:30-6 am, bfast around 8 am, nurse/bottle around 9:30am, lunch around 11-11:30am, nurse/bottle around 3:30pm, dinner around 5:30pm, nurse/bottle around 7pm.

  • D still eats at least 24 ounces of formula - 6 around 5 am, 6 more around 9 am, 6 around 1 pm, and 6 around 6 pm.  He also has 3 meals per day, plus a snack or two depending on his nap schedule.

Breakfast is usually a yogurt or eggs and/or fruit around 7:30 am.  Lunch is whatever we have laying around - cheese & crackers, cream cheese sandwiches, leftover veggie from the night before, etc around 11 - 11:30.  Dinner is whatever we are having (the other night we had chicken enchiladas and he LOVED them!), around 4:30-5:00.  Some days at his meals he eats what seems like a ton, some days he barely eats.  I just go with the flow with him.

  • DS schedule is something like this:

    Wake-up: 6 oz bottle

1 hour later: Breakfast - fruit and either yogurt, pancakes or scrambled eggs.

After his AM nap: 6 oz bottle

1 hour later: Lunch - 2nd stage Gerber veggies and a little bit of fruit (I buy frozen fruit for his mesh feeder and have been cutting 2 pieces of that for his lunch)

After his PM nap: 6 oz bottle

1 hour later: Dinner - 2nd stage Gerber meat dinner (in the glass jars) and a 2nd stage fruit dessert

    Bedtime (8-8:30pmish) - 6 oz bottle

I have no idea if this is too much or too little food.  DS is in the 50% for weight so my Pedi didn't seem concerned.

ETA: I should mention DS only has 1 tooth that has broken through which is why he's not 100% on table foods.  He eats dinner at the same time we do and we do give him some of what we're having.
  • all table foods, pretty much everything we eat. DS gets 4 - 6oz bottles a day.

  • 6:00 am - 6 oz bottle

7:00am - Breakfast (yogurt or fruit, waffle or toast).

8:30am - 4 oz bottle before his AM nap.

11:30am - Lunch (stage 2 jar of veggie and fruit) or maybe grilled cheese sandwich, veggies from night before (whatever is lying around)

    12:30 - 6oz bottle before PM nap

    4:00pm - 6 oz bottle

5:30 - Dinner stage 2 jar with oatmeal cereral mixed in, whatever we are eating for dinner, stage 2 jar of fruit

    7:00 - 6 oz bottle

  • A few days ago it was...

    7am bottle

8:30 breakfast (usually eggs & toast or blueberry pancakes)

    11:00 bottle

12:30 lunch (Grilled cheese with a veggie hidden inside, cheese & veggie quesadilla, her version of a sandwich- deli turkey, diced cheese, and diced bread, etc)

    3:00 bottle

5:45 dinner (I try to give her a fruit, veggie, and sometimes a meat.  Banana, peaches, baked sweet potato, broccoli, spinach & artichoke bites, turkey loaf, chicken breast, etc.  Sometimes she eats leftovers from our dinner the night before)

    6:45 bottle

Now she's changing things up a bit, and we've dropped to 3 bottles.  So we do bottle when she first wakes up, moved lunch a little earlier to 11:30, bottle around 2:30, and a third bottle at bedtime.

  • Everything! ?She gets three bottles a day at 10:30 (6 oz.), 3:00 (6 oz.) and 8:00 (8 - 10 oz.). ?She also eats 3 meals and usually has an afternoon snack. ?LO pretty much eats table food with small changes usually leaving out certain seasonings. ?Her new favorite is cold whole wheat pasta with cottage cheese and green peas. ?She also gets a sippy cup of water with all of her meals and I offer it to her while she is playing. ?She doesn't drink much but I am trying to encourage her to have more since I am going to SLOWLY start dropping her 10:30 and 3:00 bottles over the next few weeks. ?We'll see!

  • Oh my goodness.  I'm reading these posts and now I'm feeling bad for my poor baby, who only gets breastmilk, formula, oatmeal and fruits/vegetables.  He's always looking longingly at our food but I haven't given him any yet because of the salt, sugar, nitrates, and whatever else is in the food my husband and I eat.  My son is probably starving.  I knew those little jars of organic sweet potatoes were not cutting it!
