Rufus

My best friend in the whole world suggested Rufus as a baby name if it's a boy. She's French, married to a German, and her two boys are Oscar and Bruno (to give you an idea of her background and taste). She says the name is popular in Germany but I kind of laughed when she suggested it.

Now I'm seeing it on all the baby name lists as the new 'up and coming' and 'ultra-hip' name.

And the crazy thing is that this crazy name is growing on me. Argh!

Don't do it. It's a dogs name. At least every time I've heard Rufus, it was someone calling a dog.

I just think of Rufus Wainwright. It is hard to imagine a kid with the name, but its not bad.

Dissenter #2. I like it!!!!!!! But even though I like it, I must be honest and admit that I prob wouldn't use it, nervous that people may shorten it to Rufie (i.e. roofie) for a nn. That wouldn't be cool.

I kind of like it. I like it a lot better than most of the names I see thrown around on this board. It would definitely grow on me if it was attached to a cute kid. I say go for it!
