2nd Trimester

Those blissfully unaware 1st Tri-ers

I've been lurking on all the Tri boards tonight because it's so slow.  There are so many 1st Tri--ers who want to feel pg, like even the m/s type stuff... I guess I was never that way.  And now that I've been so sick for a solid 2+ months- even having to go to the hospital to get IV fluids for dehydration- I am wondering if they will regret their words once their symptoms kick in!  I really do understand wanting signs that confirm that there is a little life growing in you... but the only signs I needed were my BFP, my confirmation from the doctor (and that everything was fine), an U/S here and there... and eventually a cute bump :)  I don't understand wanting to feel sick!  But you know what they say about hindsight...

But I do want to acknowledge those of you who did wish for signs, and completely respect that, no judging here.  I was just mentioning my feelings, so I hope I didn't offend anyone.  Just want to know how everyone here is feeling now... thoughts?  Any changes looking back?

Thanx!

Re: Those blissfully unaware 1st Tri-ers

  • The ladies in 3rd tri are probably saying the same thing about us... "they want their bump so bad... but they don't realize the back pain, sleeping issues, etc." ??

    Everything is relative :) ?

  • Having experienced a m/c, I think I was in the same boat as them.  I wanted to feel something.  I didn't have sore boobs, although I was tired and hungry.  For about three weeks I didn't really feel anything and I had spotting which further confirmed my fears.

However, m/s kicked in around week 8 and although I was relieved, it did become old really fast.

  • I don't know that it's the "wanting to feel sick" so much as wanting to experience every pregnancy symptom. I never had M/S or Cravings and whereas I'm grateful for the lack of illness I wish I would crave something.... so much that I needed it in the middle of the night or just had to have it.

    That would be cool :)

  • I never wished for sickness. I only threw up a few times in my life and didn't wish it upon myself to be doing that everyday for... who knows how long. I wished it away & so far I haven't been sick at all. The only things I wanted was to see my belly grow, to feel baby move & kick, & of course the u/s. I never knew anyone wanted to be sick though. hmmm...

Yes  This! When I say I am huge a 3rd trier probably rolls her eyes at me.

  • I didn't want to feel sick, but I did want symptoms.  My best friend got her BFP a day after me and had more symptoms than I did and then suffered a m/c.  So I was a little paranoid.

Aside from being really tired, I had an easy 1st Tri (2nd Tri has been a lot worse).  But I didn't have an early u/s and I didn't get to hear the heartbeat until almost 14 weeks...so hardly any symptoms and no "real" confirmation until I was in 2nd Trimester left me nervous.  I understand where they are coming from (they just want some reassurance).

    ?

LOL we all did it at some point... we want the validation. ?I think it's normal :) ?

  • lol! this is a classic "just wait" post.  all of us ladies on the baby and toddler boards have to try our hardest not to say this all.the.time.
  • I never got morning sickness and was completely ok with that, I don't think I could have handled it, seriously. I'm not anxious to get a bump or anything like that either because I know it will come. I'm actually not looking forward to the "bump" because I already have back problems so I know that will make it worse...

     I don't get it either.

  • i was happy when i got symptoms because i didn't have ANY during my first pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage. once we hit 2nd tri, we weren't worried about miscarriage anymore.
  • Hell, had I known there were women who WANT the nasty parts that come with being pregnant I would've offered them mine!  I was throwing up more in a week than if you were to add up every other time in my life....icky.

Sidenote:  very thankful at this point to be feeling great!

  • After suffering 2 m/cs I wanted symptoms too.  I've never been happier to be puking in a toilet than I was from week 6 to week 14.  I was scared when it went away.  It was awful, but I thanked God everytime it happened.
