Congestion Question

I've been congested for the past week or so, and for the first few days, my throat was also sort of scratchy. I thought I was getting a cold or something, but alas, I haven't developed any other symptoms. I don't have allergies (or at least I never have before) so I'm chalking this up to pregnancy induced congestion. I've been taking Claritin for the past couple of days (it's on my doctor-approved list) but I'm not sure if I should keep taking it or call my doctor and see if they have another solution. Poor DH has had to deal with heavy snoring for the past few days!

Re: Congestion Question

  • I'm not pregnant, but I'm having the exact same symptoms. Thought I was getting the flue or something, but nothing ever developed, except mucusy feeling in my chest and throat. My voice sounds pretty bad. The last two nights, when I lay down, I've developed a nasty cough... it might be something going around.

  • If its not improving, I'd probably call just to see if they have anything else you can try.

Do you have a humidifier in your room? That really helped me while I was pregnant.

    Hope you feel better!

  • My nose was extremely stuffed up pretty much my entire pregnancy. ?Nothing ever worked to fix it, and apparently it's a common pregnancy problem. ?My OB said I could go see an ENT doc if I really wanted, but I never did.???It went away toward the end of my pregnancy I think, but it was definitely gone when E was born.??I really hope you just have some sort of cold because the nose stuffy thing really sucked.
  • I'm in the same boat - all kinds of stuffy, although I think it's allergies for me as I'm allergic to Mold which is really high right now. My Dr. said that in addition to Claritin, I can also take Sudafed PE (the one without ephedrine sold over th counter). A combination of that and Claritin have been working well enough for me. Not awesome, but do the job well enough so that I can sleep at night. Good Luck and hope you feel better!
