Just had my D&C Monday, my follow up appt is the 5th. If all looks good, I'd like to TTC right away. I know some dr.s suggest to wait for 2 normal cycles, but I want to ask her if there's a serious medical reason behind it.
Anyone using the monitor? We got pregnant within 4 mo. of TTC so I'm not sure if it's worth getting or not.
Re: Anyone using the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor after m/c?
First, I just want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I would wait to see what your dr suggests as to when you can start TTC again. I know your body needs time to heal. The last thing you want is to get pregnant right away and not be healed and have issues.
When I first started TTC, I went 2 cycles with nothing, got the monitor and got PG that cycle. Unfortunately, I had a MC. We waited until after our 1st complete cycle to start again. Now I'm on my 3rd cycle with the monitor and hoping next week will bring good news for us. Don't rush anything, heal mentally and physically, and stay positive, no matter how hard it can be. I know it's so much easier said than done. Some days, I deal ok, days like today, I was at a friend's baby's christening where EVERYONE was telling me how it was my turn, what am I waiting for, bla bla bla... I just want to jump off a freakin building!
Good luck to you.
I am, but you're not supposed to use the monitor in the first cycle or two after a m/c. If your cycle's messed up or you still have hcg in your system, it can muck up the monitor readings. The hcg will trigger a Peak on the monitor just like LH would.
I won't lecture anyone on when to start TTC. We had a natural and medically induced miscarriage and started TTC right away after each. We weren't successful in the first month either time, but I couldn't find compelling evidence to avoid and it seemed counterintuitive. That said, the D&C is a lot more invasive than a natural m/c, so I wonder if maybe that's why they tell you to wait a cycle or two, I don't know.
Anyhow, I'm on my 2nd cycle post m/c and used the monitor this time because my hormones seemed to be back in line. It's working just fine. Maybe you could sit out a month then get the monitor and use it? It can get expensive though.
