Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Selling a house is for the birds.

How many notes do I need to write to ask agents to leave my basement door open and close the bedroom doors?  That doesn't mean close the basement door and leave the basement doors open.  It also doesn't mean to leave my freaking doors unlocked... yeah, that's safe!  UGH!  Our house has only been on the market for a couple of days but I am already over this!

Sorry, I am in a grouchy mood today!

  • Bah, that sucks! Stupid REA!

I hope your house sells soon.

  • Oh and getting the house ready with a kid is soooooo convenient.  My daughter is almost 23 months and the pattern is that I straighten up one room, move on to another only to find that she is busy messing up the one I just cleaned.  I end up strapping her in the carseat and doing a quick 2-5 minutes in the house to finish getting ready.  And wait until you do all of that and the *** buyer cancels at the last minute.  It is delightful!

I know!  I'm just pissed because you know how one of our cats has "pee issues" and his litter box is in the basement.. and he will use our bed as a litter box if the door is open!   Grrrrrr.

I also just had quite a time trying to take Jude along to look at wedding dresses with my sister.  I asked her to pick a day when Paul would be off but she didn't sooo I am done for the day now.  Stuffing my face with cookies, trying to get over the trauma.  Sigh.  Is it 5 yet?  I need 12,000 alcoholic beverages.

I KNOW!  It's a freaking nightmare, isn't it?!?!?  Right before our agent came over to take pics (and I had spent hours making sure the house was PERFECT!), my son smashed crackers all over the living room.  I almost had a heart attack.. and night showings?  AHHH!  Our sleep schedule is sooo screwy which = grouchy, grouchy kid.  I can't wait for this to be over~~!!!

  • Oh god, wedding dress shopping. I am grateful I never have to think of it again. I bought the 5th dress I tried on just to get out of there. Actually it was perfect for me but OMG, shopping with a toddler = NOOooooooo.
  • That sucks! I hope it sells fast!

My sister is trying to sell their old house. They have had at least 4 contracts on the house and all of them fell through b/c the people could not get the loan! They are currently under contract again, so I hope this one goes through for them!!!!

  • Ugh...I remember selling our house....and we only had to worry about us and the dog (we had cats too, but they were self sufficient).  I can't imagine doing it with a toddler.  I plan on being buried in my backyard, so I will never move again!
  • Ugh, I don't want to hear this! We just moved in to our house 20 months ago, but we only plan on being here about 3 more years. This all sounds nightmarish.

That said, our REA was anal about making sure that the houses we looked at were as they were when we arrived and that the door was locked before we left. Do you have one of those lockboxes for showings? I was under the impression that they got into a shiitload of trouble if the doors were not locked.

  • Annoying!

. . .all your house selling posts keep reminding me of how annoying it was to sell our house, the showings during naptime, only having 15 minutes to get out of the house sometimes, oh, and then there was the REA and his clients that walked in on my DH in his underwear.  Which violated the stipulations that we agreed upon, I can't remember what it was specifically, but they weren't supposed to come view the house, but did anyway.  Like I said, I forget the details, but still. . .annoying!

    Yeah, good times.

  • citygirl_ - I don't allow showings during naps or near her bedtime.  I just tell them that I have a small child and give them my parameters.  I don't know if it would work for you, but we haven't had a problem rescheduling yet.
