coloring your hair?

My doctor wont' let me color my hair.  I know he's like the only doctor that won't let you do it anymore.   I even told him that every other doctor says it's ok and that he's the only mean one.  He said "I'm the only one who's right"... :)   My doc is a smart ass.

Anyway, so I'm thinking I might color my hair the night before my c-section.  How bad could that really be???   and then I won't look like the grandma in pictures with my new baby.  And realistically, I'm not going to have any ability to color my hair after the baby comes - I wont' want to get dye in my c-section incision....

  • I would if I were you.  I definitely don't see any harm in doing it the night before.

  • I have read that it is fine to color your hair. If you want, use semi-permanant.

  • I think you should go for it!
  • I totally would. I didn't do any color in my first trimester just to be extra cautious but then did highlights at least twice while I was pregnant. The night before would be totally safe IMO. And you're right, that's going to be the last thing you want to deal with after the baby is born!

  • oh my gosh, DO IT!  I (by chance) got mine done the week before DS was born and it was great 'cause I couldn't even think about getting it done until about 10-12 weeks later and by then I really needed the touch up.  I get my hair colored at Aveda where the ingredients are gentle all natural except for the ammonia..

The gray is all down at the roots though, so I have to do the real deal.   And semi permanent comes out of my hair in about a week or less.  I have really curly hair and it's just too porous for semi permanent to do anything at all.  I just do it myself with a box.  :)   But for my wedding I went all out and got it done for real.  And they did a permanent color and then did highlights where they sort of bleached out some pieces and then put semipermanent color back in for those lighter parts - I think there was some foil involved there?   ANyway, the light pieces turned into bleached out streaks during our honeymoon.   So that shows you how well the semi permanent lasts!  ANd I had paid a LOT for that!!  :(
