My LO has been spitting up to the point where I feel like he spits up everything he eats. He spits up all day long, not just after feeding. My pediatrician said she won't be concerned about it until it starts effecting his weight but I am starting to get worried. Right before he spits up he gets really fussy and curls up like he is in pain...i feel so bad. Any advice?
Re: Constantly spitting up...
hmm I would try eliminating things from your diet. dairy is usually the first choice in narrowing it down. I'm not a doctor, of course, but I know many women who have found success in eliminating certain foods from their diets. be aware it does take a few days-week to notice a difference though. GL! Hopefully that'll work and then the pedi should be able to tell you more if he is not gaining weight properly... in that case it could be reflux...

My DS does the same exact thing... I think it is reflux too, although since I have cut back on dairy the squirming and screaming have greatly decreased. However he still spits up A TON!!! He always spits up atleast 5 times after each feeding. At times it is kind of gross and he goes through bibs like crazy!!! When I mentioned this to the Ped at 2 weeks they didn't really care... just told me to maybe cut back on dairy. When I told them it still happens at his 2 month appt they wrote me a prescription for Prevacid. However I have not filled it since they said it will only help with discomfort, not spitting up. He is rarely uncomfortable now, so I don't see the need to medicate him at such a young age.
By the way, everyone says to keep him upright for 20 minutes after a feeding... I just think it is important to keep him still for 20 minutes. I say this because he doesn't really spit up at night when I lay him down after a feeding.
Just buy lots of burp cloths and bibs, otherwise you will be doing laundry every other day like I was!
