Babies: 0 - 3 Months

another question from 3rd trimester

I am a first time mom and I am planning on using the bassinet portion of the pack and play for the first month or so.  Do I need to purchase any type of waterproof covering to use above/below the pack and play sheet?  Thank you in advance!

  • I would if you could find something.  I never used one and my son drools/spits up and it soaks through his sheet.  I have to wash the pad alot!

  • They make sheets specifically for them but I never used them.
  • Yes.  I had to because DS's diapers always leaked in the beginning (every diaper I tried leaked).  I just put one of those waterproof changing cloths under the sheet where I he slept.
  • I would... just because my LO spits up A LOT!!!  I would be changing the sheets everyday if I didn't put a "sheet saver" down... They actually sell sheet savers at BRU, but it is cheaper to just go to JoAnn Fabrics and buy and yard or two of the waterproof felt-like material.  It is on the large rolls in the back of the store, not out by all of the other fabric.  I just bought 2 yards and cut it into rectangles and use them on his bassinet and changing pad.  It is soooo much easier to change these!

  • We used these.  They fit a regular crib so we would wrap the edges under the bassinet mattress, then put the sheet over it.  If that makes sense...

  • I never used the any waterproof pads for the pack 'n play and no problems!
