Nurseries and Baby Gear

Is this a crazy idea for clothing storage?

Our nursery is only 10x10 and with the door and closet space is scarce.  I'm also on bedrest without pay until Jaden comes so we're trying to cut corners where we can.

Is it crazy to think of using this cube for onesie storage?  We can hang quite a lot up, but as far as a dresser or drawers, we don't have any and don't plan to.  This was on sale at target this week for $34.99 and we've bought 4 bins to match his bedding.  We thought we'd leave the others open for extra storage and buy more bins if we need them.  Your thoughts are so appreciated!

We will probably also use this to store his toiletries...we're not planning on a changing table either, simply no room or $$.

Thanks!

  • I think that's a cute idea.. I love the storage bin idea, it's easy and once the whole nursery is done, everything goes well together.

  • I think it's fine. I actually kept DD#1's onesies (and will this time too) in one of those canvas bins and put them on the changing table shelves. I was going to suggest that until I read your last paragraph :) Seeing that, I think this would be perfect. You could even display some toys or stuffed animals on the cube shelves you don't use. We actually have the same one in white for DD's playroom and it's a good size and looks nice.

  • this turns out really cute.. i have a smaller one and it just looks too cute....

  • I think it is a great idea!
  • Just bought one from Target for the same reason! (Well the 6 cubbie one).  Go for it!

  • DH and I just bought this a few hours ago! I was thinking of storing misc items in it, but then I got to thinking about all the onesies we have and I think this will be a great place to keep them also.

I wish the top of the cubical thing was just a little wider, if it was I would just use this as my changing table, but I just feel like its too narrow and wobbly...but we're in the same boat as far as furniture, we're probably only going to get a crib and use the closet and this thing for clothing storage.

  • not crazy at all. it's a very creative idea!
  • We have two of these, one big and one little, with just shelves, not cubes.  We're putting it in her closet with bins in it.  I think it is so convenient!
  • We did for our first son and are using it for the next one.  We also stored hats and mittens for winter, socks and extra blankets.
  • Great idea!  I've also seen a lot of people use the over the door shoe organizers for onsie/accessory storage.  Roll them up and store!  Kinda like this...

  • we bought this actually-well it's taller and I think 3 cubes per side and bought different shades of brown and pink cubes to go in. We put ours in the closet and its great to store things so far!

  • I hadn't thought about using one of these (i see them at target all the time). i think it's a good idea and like you said you can always buy more bins if you need them. Now you have me thinking this might work for our LO.
  • I think it will be great.  I would definitely buy one of those little anti-tip straps if it doesn't come with one.  These storage shelves aren't heavy and they can be pulled over easily by a toddler.

  • I use one in my DD playroom and it is perfect and I will probably be getting one for the new baby too! I love it and it looks so cute!
  • If you have an Ocean State Job Lot near you, they were on sale there for $25 last week and I think this week.
