NBR: Favorite old movies?

My Netflix queue is getting short and I'm thinking I'd like to start watching some classics that I haven't seen before.  I've seen a fair number (Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, The Graduate, etc.), but I know there are a ton of good ones that I haven't.

I've looked at the AFI Top 100, but I'm wondering what some of your favorites are?

  • I'm not big on old movies, but DH and I have been on a Bing Crosby kick (music-wise) and we got White Christmas from Netflix. It was pretty fun! Rosemary Clooney is gorgeous.

  • We just got Oklahoma from the library since DH sings "Bright golden haze on the meadow" and A know's all the words.  She LOVED it!  I had only seen the play 1x when I was about 8 s it was new for me too.  A sang and danced all through the entire movie.. she was captivated!  lol

  • I love anything with Marilyn Monroe (especially The Seven Year Itch) and anything with Audrey Hepburn (Sabrina,  My Fair Lady, and Roman Holiday are my favorites).  Alfred Hitchcock movies are really good, too.  Check out Rear Window and Vertigo.

  • Singing in the Rain

    That Touch of Mink

    What a Way to Go

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (cause of the time period...plus the 80s rock)

    Lilies of the Field

    The Wiz

    (PT: I LOVE Strictly Ballroom!)
