8 month old not saying mama or dada yet

Instead he says "eeeek" repreatedly and "eggggg eggggg" and now "cacacacaca". But that's it. My first DS was saying at least Dada by now. My LO was 3.5 weeks early but that shouldn't make a difference should it?? TIA

DS doesn't really say much either and he was born on time.

Kiddo just does mamamam and babababa - no dadada even yet. He does make a bunch of other sounds I don't know how to spell ;-)

DD does DADA Hi Hey Cat, but no mama

When I say mama she looks at me and says dada lol

DD does this but only the opposite. DD only says mama and baba and just a bunch of other babbling that I cant even think to type out. LOL

6-9 months is when they should start babbling bababa mamama dadada, so he still has time. Try not to compare. Is he communicating in other ways? Smiling? Looking where you point? I think people on here tend to exaggerate the "words" their kids are say at 8-11 months old. IRL, I know VERY few kids who were saying mama and dada with meaning that young. Most kids had 3-5 words at 12 months, including mama and dada.
