Sanitizing Dr. Browns bottles? (Instructions dont say I have to).

The instructions with the Dr. Browns bottles only say to sterilize the nipples, it doesnt explicitely say to do the bottles and all the parts. Why wouldnt you do them all?

How long should I do them for?

  • The little pamphlet that I got at the health nurse's office said to sterilize water and bottles until 4 months (published this year).  My health nurse said I could sterilize until 3 - 4 months or until she starts chewing on everything.

    Great information. Thank you.

  • I boiled the nipples and washed everything else in hot soapy water (or you could probably run them through the dishwasher).
  • Meh even pedi says you don't have to go through a formal sanitizing ritual with bottle parts anymore.

I soak all pieces in hot hot water with soap until the water cools down a little before I wash. Then I let them soak in hot hot water until it cools down a little and then rinse.

  • My DS was in the NICU for a week, and his nurses said we didn't need to sterilize anything when we brought him home.  So we didn't.  And still don't.  I have no idea why bottle nipples are supposed to be sterilized.
