Post D&C appt and question on trying again?

I had my post-D&C appointment today.  It was quick, I was in and out in about 15 minutes.  She did an exam to make sure my cervix was closed and my uterus back to normal size, and they are.  AF started Monday and appears to be winding down, I am curious to see if my cycle length changes as a result of this.

My question to the board - if you had a D&C, how long were you told to wait before trying again?  My doctor said to wait three cycles.  I am torn if I want to do this - on one hand I don't want to wait, but on the other hand if I get pg right away and lose that one too I will blame myself.  Just curious what others were told and what your plans are.

    I am so sorry for your loss.

    My doc told me I could start once I start AF again. I've heard different things on these boards. Different doctors say different things. I completely understand wanting to start right again, but I do think the best advice is to listen to the doc. Maybe you could ask her exactly what the reasons are for waiting three cyles?

    Sorry for your loss.  I was told to wait until after first AF, but that it wouldn't be a big deal if I got KU'd before then.  Though, as it turns out, my cycles are so messed up now that it didn't matter what the instructions were.

    My doc said I could start trying right away (after I'm cleared for sex of course).  She said that if the lining were not thick enough that nothing would implant at all, so it does not increase chance of another mc.  You would just not get pregnant if your body wasn't ready.

    Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

    I was told to wait 2 cycles after a natural m/c, but am waiting to talk to my dr. (saw the on call dr.) and ask what the reasoning is and see if we can ttc earlier.

    DS - 9/12/08 9 lbs 22.5 in.

    Natural M/C 9/21/09 at 8w 1d baby measured 6w 3d

    DS2 - 7/13/10 10 lb 2.5 oz. 21.5 in

    DD1 - 9/21/12 9 lbs 4 oz. 22.5 in 

    Baby #4 due Spring of 2014!

    Had D&C of twins at 10 weeks and was told to wait until I had at least 2 periods.  I'm too nervous to try before that and since we are also waiting on genetic testing results, I want to find out that info before trying again.

    My OB cleared me to TTC again after my first AF post D&C.

    ....because I'm old.

    If I were not he would have wanted me to wait a second cycle but not a third.

     

    Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
    Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

    My ob told me to wait one normal cycle. It seems that every Ob has different opinions on this.  I *should* be ovulating soon, so this is our first TTC cycle.  I honestly couldn't wait longer than one cycle.  Being pregnant and loving that little baby made me realize how badly I am ready to be a mother.

    My OB said to wait three months, which doesn't necessarily mean three cycles for everyone...which is wierd. She seemed to think that if it happened before then it wouldn't be a problem.

    I was also told to wait three months after coming off the pill and we just so happened to slip on past the goalie in my first cycle off the pill, so this time I really want to wait the three months. If I m/c again I will totally blame myself for being impatient.

    PS - my ticker wont stop showing up, please ignore it...i had a d&c the other day :-(

    Three cycles.  And to make it worse, I just ovulted, so I know AF won't show until 8 weeks post D&C, which really adds another month to it all.  I think I'm going to make a "preconception" checkup soon and ask what the reasoning is.  I did have a mc late (23 weeks), so I'm not sure if this is why they are saying to wait so long.  I agree with PP though - I  just want to have a baby.
