I *think* I've been having BH for the past two weeks or so. Basically, my whole lower stomach tightens up for about 30 seconds or so, then relaxes. It happens completely sporadically - I may have it happen 4 times in an hour and then not again for 2 days.
The thing is, everything I read about BH says they are painless. And while these don't hurt, they aren't exactly comfortable either. It's just a strange sensation to have your entire stomach tighten up on it's own.
Does this all sound similar to what you experience?
Re: Braxton Hicks Question
Actually, I just got back from my monthly OB check up. I'd had some cramping off and on since last weekend. I told him about them, and he said it could either be RLP or BH. Well, in response I said "I always thought that RLP was when you moved in a weird way or too fast, and I thought BH were painless." He said "No way." That either can come in many different forms. He did say, however, that if they get bad enough that I feel I need to go to the hospital, then to call him and he'd get me admitted. He also said to never not call (I assumed he meant when they were bad enough that I felt I needed to go to the hospital).
So apparently, all the books just say it's painless so that you're not too scared.
Well, I got BH for the first time on Tuesday and they were so painful I could hardly breathe thru them! A friend of mine has been getting them every day since 18 weeks (she's at about 30 now) and hers are painful about half the time...
My dr checked me tuesday and there are no signs of preterm labor in my cervix, and they stopped about an hour later! So try not to worry, pain can totally be BH!
