U/S gender results - you ladies know what you're talking about!

Hi ladies!!!  You were all dead-on!  With over 75% of people guessing girl in the poll, we are...Team PINK!   ...Maybe...

The tech said, "Hmm, I'm guessing girl.  Yeah, I think it's a girl."  I said, "What do you mean, 'you think'?"  She called in another tech, and after looking he said, "I'd say 90% girl."  I asked, "Are you leaving the 10% to cover yourself?"  He said, "I never say 100%, so let's say 99% sure you're having a girl."

The baby had her legs crossed, so they didn't ever have any "white space" to see if there is anything there.  I failed to asked if they thought girl because they didn't see boy parts, or if they saw three lines to show girl.

They didn't give us any "money shots," so I can't analyze myself (although I'm not sure I could find the three lines anyway).

So, I'm going a little overboard and I think I'm going to do a 3D ultrasound before I go buying much pink!

Were your techs SURE?

  • The place we went for our u/s has a 100% accuracy rating. They say if they are ever wrong, they will refund you the cost after the baby is born. They were 100% certain with E, she had her legs open and showing it all.

  • My tech was 100% sure it was a boy and yeah, looking at the pic, it's a boy!
  • My techs were SURE!!!  I had 2 techs tell me girl and a Dr came in to check the U/S and asked if the techs told us what we were having.  When I said yes he told me not to tell him because he wanted to check.  He looked and said that without a doubt she was a girl then asked what the techs told me and I told him they said girl.

  • It must be a girl if her legs were crossed--Little Miss Manners!

One quick question....on your original poll, did you say your mom had girls and your DH's mom had boys? I am doing my own silly analysis of both mine and DH's family's and gender of offspring..

    Congrats on Team Pink!!

Hehe, yes, and she'd better keep them closed for a long time!  ;)

My parents had two girls, then one boy.

    DH parents had two boys.

MIL was insistent that we were having a boy since DH's side of the family has had only boys for several generations.

My dad's mom had seven boys and only one girl, but then 90% of her grandkids are now girls.

  • Congrats on your baby girl!

My tech said he was 98% sure it was a boy. We're getting a 3D ultrasound for my own sanity (plus, I want to see him again and get a good look at his boy parts!) :)

ditto for the place we paid for the u/s

As for the tech at our 18 week she said they can't give 100% but that she was sure it was a boy.

  • Ha -were you at WC Kaiser!?!  We got the 80% sure... and confirmed with a 3D later.  And he WAS a boy!!  :)

  • We got "girl 99.9% sure"at 3D at 17wks.. confirmation at 21wks with Kaiser of girl.

And well, it was a girl.

    Congrats on the u/s!

  • They said they were confident it was a girl.  I didn't believe them until I had another ultrasound at 28 weeks, and even then, I still had a little doubt.

Sure enough, they were right, it is a girl!

  • My thoughts on those who said 100% sure - it's humans looking at a screen, there is ALWAYS room for error so I don't think that is a completely honest answer, though I'm sure they are right most of the time. The tech and the dr. doing my 20 week u/s both said boy and they were right. They said pretty close to 100% accuracy rate for boys, but girl was more like 97% accurate.
