First, type your post out. Then highlight whichever word or words you want to contain the link, then click the link button and insert the link.
this maybe the clearest explanation yet! where is this "link" button you speak of?? I usually just C&P the link.
It's the little chain link button in the middle underneath the subject. Then you have to copy the link into the "Link URL" box, use the drop down right beneath that to "Open link in a new window", click "Insert" and you're done!
Your problem before was that you were not putting the whole address (no https:// in your links), you were just putting www.google.com. If you don't have the https://, the Bump adds some weird stuff to the beginning and you get a 404 error.

In the second line where it says open link in same window...change it to open link in a new window.

in firefox, type the words first.
then highlight the words you want to have be the clicky part
click on the paperclip icon
paste the url, choose "open in a new window"
click ok.
