What's going on with my legs?

Every morning when I wake up my leg is weird (whatever side I slept on).  And it's now starting to happen when I'm sitting at work too!  They feel kind of numb, kind of asleep, and sometimes heavy like they don't want me to walk.  The only thing that makes me feel better is standing up or walking.  What is this?  Poor circulation? Swelling?  I'm not sure. My ankles & feet look normal so I'm confused.  Help/Advice?

Re: What's going on with my legs?

  • I am 23 1/2 weeks, and I have the same thing, swollen ankles, and my legs feel heavy, and i feel better when I walk around, from what I have read, its normal..I just try to walk around, and have my feel propped up at work and at home.

  • If standing and walking help, I'd say it's poor circulation.

  • I started having this in my arms about a month ago.  Now this week it has started in my legs.  I had in my left leg saturday-tuesday and then woke up this morning and its my right leg!  Its so annoying...and actually when it was in my left leg it was pretty painful.  I'm going to ask my doc about it when i have my next appointment.
  • If you are having numbness/tingling it might be that either the baby or the swelling is compressing a nerve.  It is pretty close to the sciatic nerve that runs signals to your feet.  It is not comfy, but not a huge worry.  I would still ask your dr. it could be confirmed or denied but maybe you can get some positioning help to relieve the pain.
  • I have same thing in both my legs and arms.  I asked my doc about it and he said that it's a normal side-effect of pregnancy and as long as it goes away after birth, there's nothing to worry about.  I try to walk and move around as much as possible and that does help.
  • I'm wondering........ Do you think that circulation stalkings would help me?
