I went to a Britax event and talked to a rep from them. The 2010 Marathons are the same as the 2009 and older but now rated for 40lbs plus. They did not change anything on the seat itself. Just tested it to see if it is just as good to 40 lbs RF and it is. So if you have a 2009 Marathon or older it is fine to 40.
The My Ride is a great seat BUT it is not tall enough to accommodate an average sized child to 40 lbs. It is perfect for a short, chunky child. It is not any taller than a Marathon. Which, not that I'm doubting, but Jar is the only person (including all my car-seat.org friends) who has heard the Britax is coming out at 40 lbs. But, without any changes the Marathon isn't tall enough to get an average child to 40 lbs RF.
The only 2 seats on the market that actually will get a child to 40 lbs RF, are the Safety First Complete Air, which I am not a huge fan of. The other is the Sunshine Kids Radian. It will get your child to booster age and allow your child to RF to 40 lbs. The regular (65, 80 and XT) versions RF to 40 lbs and they are coming out (end of Oct) with new seats that allow RF to 45 lbs.

Thanks! How did you find out that Radian is coming out with a new seat? Is there a link? Thanks so much!?

I am just repeating what the Britax Rep at the cerseat event I went to told me when discussing RF weight limits. The 2010 models advertise RF to 40lbs. Carseat safety is my issue, I belong to may different sites including car-seat.org.
Not an issue for me because C is 2.5 and only 25 pounds. The average kid only gains 5 pounds per year after 2. So she will be 5+ when she reached 40 pounds.

Here is the thread discussing on car-seat.org. Here is a pre-order for new seats.

I'm not doubting, just surprised I haven't heard about this anywhere else. I think this rep might be the cousin of Russ from Sunshine Kids. That man loves his Radians, and will tell anyone what they think they want to hear.
It still doesn't change the fact that a Marathon isn't going to get the average child to 40 lbs rear facing. It simply isn't tall enough. I love me some Britax, and I would throw a party for all my car seat loving mamas if they actually made a seat that was tall enough and RF to 40 lbs. Maybe bring the Multi-Tech stateside????
