emergency contacts for pre-school if you have no family close by?

this is proving to be a difficult question for me. I think we'll put our sitter and a close friend who lives locally. I know my MIL's feelings will be hurt but

she's in NY so it's not like she's just around the corner! ugh

    I put down our neighbors who are good friends.  The fact of the matter is that they are who would be available right away in a pinch.  That's what's important!

    xbg-- I guess maybe I will put her. It will just take her so long to get here and S is only at preschool for 3 hours. ugh.

    How did J did with Brooke's "giant boob proclamation" last night? is he still laying on the floor?  lol that kid kills me!

    kap--that's what I'm thinking. and in all reality the chance is slim to none that I wouldn't be available! the school is 2 minutes from our house and I hang at home and do stuff here just in case she needs me! ;)

    We have my mom who is 5 hours away :)  DD's babysitter outside of daycare are the daycare ladies.  If there was an emergency and DH and I weren't available, I would want them to contact my mom.  She could figure out what should be done (i.e. if someone local should pick her up).

    I think of it more in a case like they can't get a hold of me anywhere. If its a situation where someone needs to be there right away, they'd call me and I'd call the nearest person.

    LOL he was cracking up, he said she's been talking about her boobies a lot and we wonder where this boob obsession came from.

    I would do as you plan and put your mil down with a note stating she's not exactly local. I'm thinking in extreme cases where she may know where you and you're dh are - like at a dr's appt. for ex. ... while a neighbor wouldn't.

    My mom always put our good friends/neighbor since our family was an hour or more away.

    I listed a friend of mine who has a DD the same age as my DD... they play together all the time and our families are close.

    I also listed my co-worker who babysits my DD on a regular basis.  My co-worker and her DH claim to be my DD's surrogate grandparents since we have no family close by.
