Babies: 0 - 3 Months

BF moms-giving first bottle to 3 week old today...

and I have 3 bottles ready to try.  Her dad will be feeding her, she already had her first feeding at 5:30am, when she woke up and he will be feeding her the next one.  I have a born free, dr. browns and avent.

So my question is if I start out with one and she hates it, do I try one of the other bottles or wait for another day and try a different bottle?  I don't want to get her upset by trying 3 different bottles in one feeding but she needs to get used to taking a bottle sometimes because I will be going back to work when she is 3 months.  What did you do?

  • What I have experienced at work is 9 times out of ten if they are hungry enough they will drink out of which ever bottle you provide. Good luck I wouldn't start stressing till she refuses it. Also great idea to start now.. Good luck!!

  • I would start with the Avent, that's the first one I used with DD when I introduced the bottle and she had no problem.  Personally, if she didn't "latch on" to that within a few tries I might try the other ones in the same feeding, she has to grab onto something right? Although at this point, DD will take Avent, Dr. Browns, and those Nuk nipples that I sometimes put on the Dr. Browns bottles....yes, I use all kinds and BF and she doesn't seem to care, lol

  • We used the born free.  Took my DH 5 mins for her to take it and then all was good.  I would stick it out with one for a few feedings before switching.  If she gives him trouble I would try it at night when she's sleepy before switching.  Good luck!!
  • My LO has never had any issues switching from breast to bottle. He seems to favor the Avent bottles too. But like PP said when they are hungry enough if won't matter where it is coming from!
