formula rec's

Please recommend your formula.  I am going to have to start supplementing and I am clueless as to what to use.  I don't care about price.  Please tell me what you think the best brand is regardless of price.  Also, does anyone have any organic brand recs?  TIA.

Re: formula rec's

  • I recommend the Similac brand formula, they make an organic type as well, though I have never used it since we use Similac Isomil Advance. Here's what the organic brand looks like.

Its more expensive then other brands but I think its worth it. I hear nothing but good things about it.

  • We supplement with Enfamil Premium Lipil. We tried their Gentlease, but it actually made her gas worse and constipated her, strangely enough.
  • We had DS on Similac Advance at $22-25 a can then switched to Costco's Kirkland brand of their version of it and it costs us $20 for 2 cans.  Can't beat that.  Formula costs $50 a month at our house.  It's the cheapest formula I've come across and it's one of the closest kinds to breast milk.

In reality though, you're just going to have to try each formula and see if it works out for your LO (it sometimes takes a couple weeks to adapt).

  • I use nestle goodstart the green can.. and my son has no problem with it at all. Ask for a sample at your dr apt. So you could try it before you buy it. I have recieved 8 cans from my dr office. good luck!
  • Thanks ladies, I really appreciate it.
  • I started supplementing 2 months ago and its been a total crap shoot. Some of the sensitive formulas upset her and give her more gas, orig the soy upset her but now it seems to be working so I go with BRU brand (bc of price. otherwise Id prob get Similac just bc I like it for some reason) but once you find a type that works (it often is a lot of trial an error unfortunately) you can do that type but in a less expensive brand, like BRU (even if you dont care about price)
  • We use BRU Gentle. He spit up when he was on Similac, was constipated on enfamil and BRU milk based gave him painful gas. But the Gentle has been great and that's great for me because it is about half the price.
