I called the lab and they said the results were in but I'd have to call my doctor. I called waited for 4 hrs for her to call back w/ my stomach in knots. I guess they tried calling him 1st but he didn't answer.
appearance:normal volume: low .6% (normal2-5) viscosity-normal glutination-normal count: low 5.7 (normal20-200) she said she usaully sees 40 motlility: 25% (normal 50%) progression: poor
She said it will be very hard for us to get pregnant (we knew something could happen because we did that 1st month). He has to repeat the test in 2 weeks and she gave me the # number to a urologist that I'm to call after the 2nd results are in. I'm so sad. How the hell am I going to tell him?!?? SH!!T!
Re: Completely crushed
i'm so sorry, hopefully he will take it relatively well.
i know that is a hard thing for a guy to hear.
I'm really sorry you got these results, but it could be worse. My husband had a 0 count on both SAs.
Remember...you have lots of options! Don't lose hope!
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I'm so sorry! The best way is usually quickly and honestly. Then you just have to be there for him and let him go through whatever emotions he needs to.
Remember, this isn't the end. This is just a way for you to find out how you can get that baby you both deserve! ((hugs))
I'm sorry Nova.
IVF#3 brought us our miracle baby girl on June 26, 2012
I can't even imagine how you must feel right now. I am so very sorry.
My dr said she wanted to wait till we have the 2nd test done to say anything, but she said when I 1st met her that if his tests were low the next step for us would be really think about how long we wanted to try on our own or just go to IUI. I guess IVF would come in later because of $$ and we would have to see what the urologist says....
Oh hon, we have a very similar situation. The volume on ours was a little different, count was 7.5 and motility was 16%. We are doing a repeat this week and then if the same we go to a urologist.
Where was your sample done? In the lab or at home? At the RE's office or where? That can make a huge difference.

I will be the bearer of the news and tell you what our RE told us yesterday. With our counts we would be looking at "high tech intervention." He said IVF but I suspect IVF with ICSI. This is something you will want to discuss with your RE though. One point our RE's office made was you can spend the same amount doing repeat IUI's and still end up having to do IVF or you can spend the money and do IVF the first time. However, it could be something that can be fixed and then you could successfully get pregnant on your own or with IUI alone. Repeat the test and see what happens. If you want to talk about it PM me and we'll get in touch.

We're just now starting testing but we have zero infertility coverage. Are you covered for IUI then? The good news is that he DOES have some viable sperm that CAN get you KU and you will be one day. It just may take medical intervention and alot of $ but it will happen.
He did it at home then took it to the lab which is about 15 min away. I didn't know it would make a difference. I'm going to have to look into that
We to have zero infertility coverage.
We are actually having it done that way this next time but we take it to the RE's office (he has a lab onsite). We have to have an appointment, etc. The last time he did it IN the lab and the lab we used is apparently notoriously faulty. I'm holding out hope but only by a thread. I think the question is more is it a good lab and one that your RE referred you to. If not that could be part of it.
Our RE told us that we have to have it in the lab within 1 hour.

I am so sorry honey. The urologist is definitely more specialized and there is hope.

After 4 years, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs our surprise miracle is here!

The lab was reffered to us by the doctor. It's actually across the street from her office. There are two different hospitals/labs on the same street and we go to "the good one" lol. He had an hour to get it there too, but since its only 15 min away I believe he said he dropped it off about 20 min later.
I'm so sorry.
One thing that might be worth asking him - did he get the whole sample in the cup? I know (from experience) that that can affect the results, and it might be something he wouldn't have thought to mention.
GL, I hope things work out.

Thank you very much. I just sent you one
Sorry hun...we are also dealing with this. DH's count is only 3.5 (after we initially thought it was 35...long story...report error), his motility for rapid swimmers is 20% and slow swimmers is 10%, the rest are completely immotile or nonprogressive. We were sent straight to the urologist, and our appt is next week.
Hang in there sweets...I'm not giving up hope and I have some hope for you and Kali too!!
