Pregnant after a Loss

anybody not really feel the baby move at night?

I was reading one of those websites like "what your baby is doing this week" kind of thing and it said that baby's movements are probably keeping me up at night. I am totally NOT having this problem. I sleep so soundly, and rarely even feel him move when I get up to use the bathroom (maybe a kick here or there, but nothing big).

I'm also noticing that his movements are really changing. Like a lot of the time I'll just be able to feel where he is, but not feel him move there, or I'll feel him like "come to the surface" and then move away. The jabs and big kicks I was feeling only happen every now and then.

Tell me about yours!!

  • I never ever feel Kate at night. I always feel her when I first get in bed and then I usually dont feel her until 8am the next day. I'm a light sleeper too.. I think every baby is on their own schedule...thankfully mine has been sleeping through the night. I wouldnt worry..especially if you feel him move throughout the day....just make sure you arent sleeping on your back.

  • My little man's movements are so unpredictable. Sometimes he's active during the day, sometimes the morning, sometimes at night. I feel like he's rolling a lot lately, too, with a few jabs here and there. But I never feel him at night. If I get up to pee I sometimes feel him when I lay back down, but nothing that keeps me awake

  • I can sleep through anything so he could very well be moving around a lot and I would have no idea (this is why co-sleeping is completely out for me).  The pattern of movement definitely changes as they grow.  There isn't room for those distinct kicks and jabs like before not there are lots of rolls with the  occasional elbow or knee tracking across....sometimes a foot.  Mostly I get a lot of head or butt (can't tell which) sticking out which makes me laugh because there's suddenly this big lump in my belly.

  • Cora, I am feeling the same as you. Usually around 8-9pm he's extremely active, and I feel a kick or 2 when I get up to go to the bathroom. I get more rolls these days with a kick or jab thrown in for good measure. He's only kept me up once at night.

  • I don't ever feel kicks at night either.  It's like she's sleeping when I'm sleeping, or else I just sleep through them.  When I get up to pee she occasionally kicks a couple times when I lay back down but that's it!

I only get high activity occasionally, otherwise it's little motions that feel like she is just changing positions.  I can also feel her in a certain spot sometimes, like she is laying to one side or another or in the front.

I always wonder if it's a head or butt too!

  • Cora - I feel exactly what you are feeling.  His movements are very different - more that I can feel him on my right side, or feel him under my ribs, but not kicks as much.  I never get woken up by him at night.  Sometimes when I wake up I'll feel him and sometimes I don't.  It seems random.

  • OK, well this makes me feel better! What you all described is pretty much exactly what I'm feeling. I guess I had this impression that he would be up like all night kicking away and he's just not, or else I don't feel it. Kathy--I could never cosleep either. I would be the mom to roll over on my baby and have no idea--the thought makes me shudder. I guess my expectations of his movement are a bit different than what is actually happening but that's okay!

  • Every now and again. Mostly, she's really active right before I go to bed, then just as I'm waking up.
