Maybe TMI

I had my membranes stripped this morning, and I'm almost 4 cm dilated now! Woo Hoo! Cross your fingers that baby arrives very soon!

Re: Maybe TMI

  • How exciting!  Best of luck and can't wait to see pictures after the baby is here.

  • 4 cm sounds like a lot!!  When do you go to the hospital then?

Good luck - hope everything is as pain-free as possible Smile

Yes, I was going to ask the same thing...when the average first time mother typically gives birth at 41.5 weeks, it could actually be causing your baby to be born before it's lungs are ready to strip and send you into labor sooner rather than waiting until the baby is ready to come.

To answer the other poster's question...you go in to the hospital when your contractions are between 3-4 minutes apart and at LEAST a minute long (preferably more like a minute and ten if you're not farther than 1/2 hour away).  This type of contraction behavior lets you know that you are pretty active and not likely to be sent home because you are not progressing!

  • Ooops, sorry, quoted the wrong pp.  Meant to quote the one who said that this is awfully early to be stripping membranes.
