When to make DS's room a big boy room?

I keep thinking I want to redo DS's room.  I just don't know when to do it.  We plan on ttc #2 in December.  I don't know when we will transition DS to a big boy bed or if we will move bedrooms. 

When will you or did you do a room makeover?  It will be sad to say bye to his nursery regardless of when we do it!

    We just moved... so I am not going to be painting her room 2 times in a year. I am going to decorate her room now in more big girl style. She is probably getting a twin bed around Christmas time...

    When DC#2 comes along and kicks him out.  :)  We would convert his crib into a toddler bed, then when we have another kiddo move him into his own room and put the crib back together fully.

    i'm not sure about the big bed thing- maybe when he starts climbing out of his crib and endangering himself! ;) but we do plan on moving him into his new room in a few weeks when our renovation is complete. i will keep the decor pretty much the same-i did a very simple, not exciting job decorating because he just uses his room to sleep. i will keep the monkey theme because it's not too baby and save the really colorful, primary colored decor for the playroom. i don't plan on  changing from the monkey until he expresses a desire for a new theme. we didn't pick the monkey stuff until he showed an interest in them either.

    i want his move to a new room to not be associated with the impending arrival of another baby and we plan to ttc next summer.

    I specifically designed the nursery so it would be appropriate for a baby and a toddler.  I guess his big boy room makeover will be for a birthday or something once he's old enough to state a preference. (I want cowboys! I want spaceships! whatever.)

    I'm thinking maybe 4 or even 5.  

    As for switching to the toddler bed, it'll be when the crib is unsafe for him (i.e., he starts climbing out).  But his room is his "forever" room. #2 gets his own room, which will also be designed so that we don't have to repaint/redecorate in a year.

    And yeah, I think I will be sad when it finally does get painted over. :(
