My personal shopper at nordstroms...

So for my 30th bday my parents got me a personal shopper(my request for clothes) at nordstrom.  My old clothes don't fit and its time I look like a 30 year old.  Well what a disaster, I'm soo disappointed.  I phone interviewed twice with this lady who was supposed to be my shopper and then they gave me someone else.  Okay, at least they had notes right... I said I liked all colors except orange, what colors were in the dressing room when I got there? Orange, olive green and gray, so lovely!  I told them I was a size 10 well she laid out size6-8 SKINNY jeans, yeah those looked great.  But trusing her experience I put them on.  Rocking the greatest muffin top on top of my sausage legs I got the reply: "what do you mean you don't like them, you look soooooo skinny."  No twatwaffle I look like craap!  Wow I had such high hopes.  I have to go back, returns/alterations/still need clothes, would you still use a personal shopper but someone else or go it alone and trust your own opinons?

    I go alone buy the stuff then force a "fashion show" on DH when I get home.  LOL!

    Get a different PS. That one sounds awful. I have had hit or miss experiences but a good PS is great!

    And I am not a clothes person at all.

    i'll be your personal shopper for free!!  haha!!  those people are idiots and make a commission off of what you buy, i'm sure.  they don't have a clue.

    I would try again, maybe with the person you phone interviewed with? That stinks that it was such a bad experience.

    I am sure they do get a commission but when I have used the Nordstrom PS service there has never been any cost to me. They are a mixed bag though, some are great and I'm sure some are of course just dummies with no taste. At a minimum, I like having someone specifically dedicated to run back and forth to get things so I don't have to keep getting dressed.

    Nordstrom is notorious in the PS department for NOT LISTENING. My sister and I used one and finally gave up on them after they continued to bring us the wrong sizes, tell us that the WRONG size would fit us, and suggest hideous clothing. Their buyers have reached an all time low as well...anyone else notice the constant stream of Bohemian, loose fitting, terribly colored/patterned styles in Savvy and TBD?
