  We usually do around $10 if they have to feed him and put him to bed. If I have already fed him then we usually do $8. It also depends on who is babysitting for him. We have a high school girl -she usually gets $8 an hour and if our ccp does it for us we give her $10 an hour b/c she is going above and beyond for us.
  For your situation with your LO being so young I'd probably do closer to $10.

  The one time we've had a babysitter so we could go out we had our nanny come.  We pay her $10/hr (now $10.50) during the day but when she babysat, Natalie was already in bed so we only gave her $8/hr.  She did tell us ahead of time that if Natalie was already in bed we didn't have to pay her the full amount that we do during the day.

  I pay our sitter $10 an hr. She is very active with him too though, she plays and takes him outside, feeds, and puts him to bed if we are that late. She also handles naps during the day.

  Its actually one of his DC teachers so he is already used to her, and plus Ill pay it if I know he is well taken care of.

  BTW: I LOVE that bib!

  We have only used a sitter twice, one was my friend's younger sister and one was my nanny. I paid both of them $10 an hour, even though Ashley had eaten and all they had to do was play with her a bit and put her to bed. $10 an hour is the going rate where we live. I would probably pay the sitter $10 a hour based on her age.
